LMICS projects

The Loddon Mallee Integrated Cancer Service unit (LMICS) has planned several projects which will assist it achieve its goals. Details are provided below for some of these projects.

If you are interested in finding out more about LMICS projects, contact LMICS.

Website and Directory of Cancer Support Services

The design and development of this website and the Directory of Cancer Support Services is a project which commenced in 2007. This website is intended for consumers, their cares and the general Loddon Mallee community.

There is also a website (www.LMICS.org.au) for health care professionals in the Loddon Mallee region.

Multi-disciplinary Care Information Pamphlet

This project has been established to develop an information pamphlet for patients regarding the concept of Multi-disciplinary Care and what that means for a cancer patient. Currently this pamphlet is being reviewed before release.

Information Brochure for Newly Diagnosed Cancer Patients

This project was established to develop and implement timely and appropriate information for patients/carers at the point of diagnosis. A brochure for the southern region of Loddon Mallee has been developed to highlight the local support groups. It has now been delivered to GPs across that part of the region. In the second part of 2008 this project will develop and implement a similar brochure for the northern region.

Supportive Care Advisory Group

This project was established to set up Consumer Advisory Groups (CAGs) drawn from different areas of the region. A CAG consists of consumers, carers and other interested people and advises LMICS on the needs of the cancer patient and their carer both in the community and the acute setting.

The Bendigo Supportive Care Advisory Group has now been established. During 2008-2009 LMICS will look to set up further CAGs aross the rest of the region.

Further information about CAGs can be found at the LMICS website.
