What is Loddon Mallee Integrated Cancer Service (LMICS)?

The Loddon Mallee Integrated Cancer Service (LMICS):

  • is a Victorian Department of Human Services initiative,
  • was established in 2004,
  • covers the region from Bendigo through Echuca to Mildura and stretching down through Castlemaine,
  • is currently coordinated from Bendigo and Mildura, and
  • aims to reform cancer services in the Loddon Mallee region through sustainable improvements in both the clinical and community settings.

The team at LMICS identified the need to supply more information to consumers, their carers and the wider community in Loddon Mallee about the cancer supportive care services available to them.

As a result of this, a project was commenced in 2007 to develop a directory of the cancer support services in the Loddon Mallee region. It was also decided to locate it on a website dedicated to consumers, their carers and the wider community. By developing such a website it was felt that the information would reach the widest range of people.

In 2008 www.LMCancerSupport.com.au (this site) was developed and the Loddon Mallee Cancer Support Directory is currently being compiled.
